Artist Statement
I am a creator.  I open myself to explore my creativity. ‘        Agnes Jorgensen

Emotion is what nurtures the spiritual energy within Agnes Jorgensen. Her creative exploration is an attempt to portray her feelings with an authentic voice and vision.

Whether travelling the country, visiting galleries and museums in New York, or simply taking a walk in the forest, Jorgensen finds inspiration in compelling textures, engaging statues, and luscious palettes for her creativity.  The romantic portrayals of statues and figures intrigue Jorgensen and she strives to bring them to life in her new work.  Jorgensen confidently challenges herself to reach new heights with her artwork inviting the viewer to experience a connection or an emotion within.

Their admiration of Renaissance art and statues was the catalyst that would inspire the couple’s  Jorgensen Chatelain collection titled ‘ Journey into Creativity ‘. With devotion to the old masters method they have added a contemporary twist of applying modelling paste to the canvas to create diverse textures while giving homage to painters and sculptors of eras past and present.

Jorgensen has received regional, national and international awards dating from 1982 to 2009 and they both have participated in group and solo exhibitions. Their artwork is part of public and private collections throughout Canada, the United States and parts of Europe.

Together, they have founded a non profit organization Painting a New World-Peindre un Nouveau Monde in 2008. Through the sales of their artwork and art projects, they continue to help create positive changes in communities locally, in Africa and Haiti.
